Bullying and Pride

Bullying and Pride is in our three part format. Like all our programs, it deals with a variety of subtopics related to the topic: homophobia, domestic violence, racial discrimination and addiction. All of these can lead to bullying: the need to belittle and control someone else.

Part One:
What is bullying?

The presenter performs “What is bullying.” The students become part of this actor performance piece, becoming students of Bloomberg High! The presenter leads them on a path of exploration, showing stories of bullying and its destructiveness. Twelve characters delight and engage the students, opening a forum for feedback.

Part Two:
Revenge of the Nerd 2010

A play based loosely on the suicide of a female high school student in Massachusetts. Except in this version of the story she gets help and moves to New York! The plot revolves around 8 characters and mysterious text messages. It will engage the students and show circumstances that can and do happen in their schools.

Part Three:
Questions and Answers

The final feedback – all topics will be explored with students either asking questions of the presenter or of any characters in the play or performance piece. The students will lead the direction of this forum and have a chance to totally interact.
